Police Fire up Engines and Shift into High Gear for 7th Annual Ontario Police Badge Ride.

Barrie: Hundreds of Police officers and their emergency services counterparts are preparing to throttle up to bring a little rolling thunder to Simcoe County astride their motorcycles on Sunday, August 15th for the 7th Annual Ontario Police Badge Ride.

The focus of the Ontario Police Badge Ride is to bring police, fire and EMS workers together with community members for a day of positive relationship building with a relaxing scenic motorcycle ride on some of the most picturesque roads Simcoe County has to offer as the catalyst.

The Ontario Police Badge Ride "Kicks Off" from OLG Slots at Georgian Downs with registration starting at 8:15 a.m. followed by the ride "Kick Off" and "Form Up" at 10:00 a.m.. Uniformed officers representing the Toronto Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Barrie Police, South Simcoe Police, Halton Regional Police, Niagara Regional Police and Peel Police astride their police special motorcycles will join hundreds of off duty police, fire, EMS workers and sponsored guests for the day long ride that will travel some of the most picturesque roadways Simcoe County has to offer.

Sponsored this year by OLG Slots at Georgian Downs and Blue Mountain Resort, the Badge Ride will pass through numerous communities within Simcoe County as it winds it’s way from OLG Slots at Georgian Downs west toward Collingwood up into the Niagara Escarpment for a scenic rest stop at the top of Blue Mountain Resort before meandering back toward the City of Barrie where the ride will conclude with a dinner sponsored by Casal Catering of Barrie.

Ontario Police Badge Ride Director, retired Barrie police sergeant George Cabral stated, "The fact this is the 7th Annual Ontario Police Badge Ride truly serves as an indicator of just how strong the desire of police and their EMS counterparts is in terms of connecting and working with community members to promote and build better, stronger and lasting relationships within the communities they serve."

Founded in 2003 by two officers from the Barrie Police Service, who very much wanted to help raise needed funds to purchase a specialized wheel chair for a disabled child, Badge Ride has continued to support worthwhile community works and causes such as the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.

This year’s cause is the Deeds & Dreams children’s program, a program that assists children with mental and/or physical challenges and their families who may not otherwise qualify for assistance through traditional channels.

Ride organizers encourage the public to give a smile and a wave to police, riders and passengers as they pass by on motorcycle and to make a visit to www.badgeride.com for more information.

Members of the media are invited to attend at OLG Slots at Georgian Downs in Innisfil for the ride "Kick Off" and opening at 10:00 a.m. followed by ride departure.
